All Aboard: A Culinary Journey Through Eastern Thailand

Tucked away on Sukhumvit Soi 11, Burapa Eastern Thai Cuisine & Bar by Sri Trat invites diners to step into a time capsule—a luxurious vintage train carriage transporting guests through the flavours, textures, stories of Eastern Thailand.
Founded by the family andbehind Sri Trat Restaurant & Bar, Burapa builds on a legacy of generational recipes, rooted in the kitchens of Matriarch Sri (Srirat Sripinyo), and reimagines them for the present day under the creative eye of Culinary Director & Co-founder Ack Wongwich Sripinyo.
“The foundation of Burapa’s cuisine is rooted in my mother’s Eastern Thai cooking teachings and iconic Sri Trat dishes. However, we have transformed these traditions into vibrant, playful creations that retain their bold and robust flavors.”
Culinary Highlights

This year, Burapa continues its signature Journey to the WonderEast with:
- New seasonal additions to the à la carte menu
- Refreshed elements in the tasting journey experience
- Creative bar pairings and curated wine options
- Collaborations with Thai farmers, foragers, and local artisans
Many ingredients are sourced directly from Trat, Rayong, and even Isaan, including:
- Wild oysters and jellyfish
- Fresh organic coconut water with a unique terroir
- Native fruits, herbs, tree nuts, and mangrove roots
- Rare sugarcane and floral infusions used across both the kitchen and cocktail programme
Eastern Thai cuisine is revered for its complexity, and at Burapa, each dish carries that DNA—while remaining surprising, inviting, and new.

The Atmosphere: A Moving Feast
Every inch of Burapa is designed to evoke travel—both literal and emotional. Inspired by the golden era of the Orient Express, the restaurant is split across three floors:
- The ground floor bar is a vintage dream: glass vessels of house-infused syrups, a curved teakwood counter, and velvet-lined booths.
- Upstairs, the dining rooms blur fantasy and nostalgia: train windows, vintage novels, candle-lit tables, and a copper glow that casts warmth over every meal.
- The third-floor salon, inspired by French romanticism, features leather armchairs, marbled tables, and moody lighting for an elevated experience.
- Each room invites guests to disconnect from the world outside and sink into the journey—no actual train required.
What’s On Now
- Lunch service with à la carte dishes
- Evening service across two dining floors
- Journey to the WonderEast tasting menu (available by request for 10+ pax)
- Seasonal pairings with Thai spirits and small-batch wines
- Occasional chef’s table or speakeasy-style events

A Note from the Founders
Owned by Nontawan “Taam” Chitwattanagorn and Ack Wongwich Sripinyo, Burapa is not just a tribute to Eastern Thailand—it’s an evolution of it. Where Sri Trat brought traditional recipes into the limelight, Burapa lets those traditions move, morph, and shine anew.
For anyone seeking a restaurant that balances culture, creativity, and detail—Burapa is the next stop on the journey.
